Follow your passion
A tribute to my aunt who helped me follow my passion

One of the best parts about writing Captain Henry and the Planets Guard was how it brought me closer to my aunt, a retired journalist.
She played an essential role in shaping the book, and it was a gift to spend countless hours on the phone with her, talking about writing and receiving a crash course in writing from someone I admire so much.
I know I made the same mistakes over and over again—probably enough to frustrate her beyond belief. At times, I wouldn't have blamed her if she stopped answering my calls. But she never did.
During the process, I came across a column she wrote for the Asbury Park Press in 2014 about following your dreams. The quote in the image is from that column, and I also included it at the front of the book.
We all need to chase our dreams—whether big or small. I believe it's a key part of why we're here. Pursuing them connects us to ourselves and to the world in profound ways.
So, thank you, Aunt Bobbi. I'm looking forward not back.
